EarthWorks Expo to Offer Electronics Recycling; Discounted Expo Tickets Available Online
DENVER—June 4, 2008—More than 50 percent of homeowners have three or more old electronics in their home, such as outdated computers, printers, phones and TVs. Denver metro area homeowners can recycle these old electronics at EarthWorks Expo (www.earthworks2008.com), Denver’s largest green-living event, on June 21-22 at the Denver Merchandise mart.
Electronics recycling will be provided by Longmont-based G&S Mountain Recycling. “We are different than ‘free recyclers’ because we dismantle all end of life electronics here in Colorado,” explains Gary Cruson, president of G&S Mountain Recyclers. “Our customers can be assured that we don’t ship items overseas—only to local scrap handlers after everything is totally apart. We also dismantle hard drives and cut the disk in half to ensure that your data is destroyed. If your equipment still has some life, with your permission we will re-sell it (giving you 30 percent back) or donate it to a local charity.”
G&S Mountain Recyclers charges a small fee for most items to be recycled. A complete list of accepted items can be found at www.mountainrecyclers.com. “We will offer a special rate of $1 to recycle CPUs at EarthWorks Expo,” Cruson says.
EarthsWorks Expo will feature an estimated 150 exhibitors, 35 workshop presentations and two keynote speakers: Peter Barnes, author of “Climate Solutions: A Citizen’s Guide” and co-founder of Working Assets Long Distance, who will focus on “How to Fight Climate Change Without Soaking the Middle Class”; and Michele Weingarden, Director of Greenprint Denver, who will speak about Denver’s initiative to promote the importance of sustainable development and ecologically-friendly practices.
Tickets for EarthWorks Expo are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for youth. Children age 12 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets at a 25 percent discount are available online through June 15 at www.earthworks2008.com. Tickets also may be purchased at the Denver Merchandise Mart (1-25 and E. 58th Ave) on the days of the Expo. Times for EarthWorks Expo are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.
